Judicial Philosophy
There are no routine cases in the Washington County Circuit Court.
For the people involved in any legal matter, their day in court is one of the most important—and often one of the most stressful and emotional—days of their lives.
As a Judge, I never lose sight of the responsibilities I have as part of our court system. I fairly apply the law to the facts of each case, treat everyone who comes before me with respect, make difficult decisions without fear or favor, and work to improve our courts so they continue to meet the needs and expectations of the community they serve.
Building on What Works
Strengthening the criminal justice system means building on what the system does well, improving what can work better, and changing what no longer serves the community effectively. As presiding judge in Washington County, I have worked with the sheriff, the clerk of court, and my fellow judges to change court operations in the face of budget cuts, improve court scheduling to increase efficiency, expand access to justice, and save taxpayer dollars. We need a court system that is prepared for 2026 and beyond. As a Judge, I am taking an active role in that important work.
Courthouse and Community
The best Judges are part of the communities they serve. My husband, Jeff, and I have called Washington County home for 18 years. We raised our family here, have built lasting friendships, and have supported local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations. I have volunteered with the YMCA, United Way, and Froedtert West Bend Hospital. Washington County is a special place, and I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of life for all our residents. Being involved in the broader community is an important part of how I approach public service.
Over the course of my career, I have worked with crime victims and their families, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and people facing serious consequences. I know how much faith our residents place in our justice system and how much responsibility rests with those of us entrusted with leadership roles.
